Some shops have a process that includes checking in vehicles in the parking lot to perform a walk-around with the customer. In this scenario, the shop wants to start an Inspection from the tablet (instead of starting it within their point of sale system). To do this, follow the steps below.
- Create the Vehicle on the Tablet
- Create the Repair Order in the Point of Sale System
- Matching AutoVitals Inspection to the Repair Order
Create the Vehicle on the Tablet
From the tablet home screen:

Select the Add button

Select Scan and scan the vehicle’s VIN to automatically populate the Year, Make and Model

Next, input the Odometer

Select Complete to continue

This will open the newly created Vehicle Tile and Inspection to start the inspection
Create the RO in Point of Sale System
Next, the Service Advisor will need to create the Repair Order within their point of sale shop management system per their standard process.
Matching AutoVitals Inspection to RO
Once the RO has been created within the point of sale system, AutoVitals will match it to the vehicle and inspection that was started from the tablet (above). This is matched based on VIN so it is critical the VIN is correct, and matches, in both systems.
From here, the Service Advisor and Technician can resume work in AutoVitals as usual.
