Getting Started: Repair Order Creation
After starting a new Repair Order in R.O. Writer, when an RO is created with a customer, a vehicle, and at least one authorized labor job in R.O. Writer, it’s pushed to AutoVitals and will appear on the Today’s Vehicle Page (TVP). AutoVitals receives the repair orders details with associated customer and vehicle information.
The following information is required:
- Customer Name
- Vehicle Year, Make, and Model
- At least 1 authorized Labor line
How to Send Information from AutoVitals to R.O. Writer
Install SmartFlow Add-on
First, be sure to install the SmartFlow Add-on to each workstation that will be utilizing this integration. The link to install the Add-on can be found in your Today’s Vehicle Page's (TVP) dropdown menu:
Transferring Information
On the Today’s Vehicle Page (TVP) in AutoVitals, there is a button on the Work Order header to send information back to R.O. Writer:

UPDATE SF ADD-ON: will push all of the information available, including vehicle information back to R.O. Writer (see more detail in the section below)
Note: This button must be clicked to send information back to R.O. Writer. Information will not send automatically to avoid changes to the work order happening without the Service Advisor’s knowledge.
Supported 2-Way Integration Information
Summary
- Job Information (JOB button): Customer-facing notes and photos
- Note: a photo MUST be added to the job/labor line that
- Estimate Information (EST button):
- Configured canned job recommendation will be added to the Repair Order
- A link to customer-facing notes and photos for each recommendation
- Inspection Information (INSP button):
- A URL to the inspection report is saved in the NOTES tab
- VIN, Year Make & Model, License, and Odometer
Job Information
When the JOB button is pressed, customer-facing notes and a URL for any photos on approved labor lines in AutoVitals will be pushed to R.O. Writer as long as a photo is included, and it will create it's own labor line including this information. Notes alone will not transfer over to R.O. Writer.
Note: You must have a configured canned job MISCELLANEOUS as a Category and the Operation 001 marked as Active in order for Notes & Images to transfer to the repair order.
Estimate Information
If you have your R.O. Writer canned jobs integrated with your inspection sheet, those canned jobs can be sent back to the repair order which can greatly decrease estimating time if utilized correctly.

Once the EST button is pressed via the SmartFlow Add-On the configured canned job recommendations will populate as labor lines on the repair order in R.O. Writer.
Additionally, if there are any customer-facing notes approved for the topic as well, it will add them as a note on that canned job.
Inspection Information
After the technician has completed the inspection on the Autovitals.x app, the URL for the inspection can be sent back to R.O. Writer along with the vehicle data:

From the Autovitals.X mobile application, the Technician can easily gather vehicle-specific information from the home screen:
- Press the VIN button to open the camera and scan the VIN tag of the vehicle and this will automatically add the VIN as well as trim level, engine, and drivetrain options
- Press the ENTER ODO button to enter the IN mileage
- Press the Plate button to manually enter the license plate

Once this information is gathered, you will be able to see this information on the Repair Order on your TVP:
After the Service Advisor presses INSP button via the SmartFlow Add-on, the following information will be pushed to R.O. Writer:
- VIN
- Year Make & Model
- License
- Odometer in
Note: If any values are empty, or different in R.O. Writer, they will be updated to the value that has been entered in AutoVitals. The VIN may need to be decoded in R.O. Writer after it’s been updated.
