Inspection Builder Video Overview

Accessing the Inspection Builder
A user can access the Inspection Builder directly from the Today’s Vehicle Page (TVP):

Select the Menu on the top left of the TVP

Select Inspections tab
-
Select Inspection Sheets
A user can also access the Inspection Builder from the shop Settings:

Select the Inspection tab
-
Select Inspection Builder
Create or Edit Inspection Sheets
Create a New Inspection Sheet
From your shop Settings on the Inspection Builder:
-
Select the New button
-
Input a name for your new Inspection Sheet
-
Select Submit Changes to save the new Inspection Sheet
Use an Inspection Sheet from Our Library
There are many Inspection Sheets already available in the AutoVitals library for use. Please consult with your Customer Success Advisor if you’d like guidance or suggestions on selecting an existing Inspection Sheet for your shop.

Select Library
-
Search the library by Category, Inspection Sheet Name, or Shop Name
-
Use the magnifying glass icon to preview the selected Inspection Sheet

Select Add to add the Inspection Sheet to your shop’s inspection library
Copy an Existing Inspection Sheet
In the event you need to copy an existing Inspection Sheet:

Select the Inspection from the Inspection Sheets drop down menu
-
Select the Duplicate Inspection Sheet icon
-
Rename the copied Inspection Sheet

Select Submit Changes to save the copy
Export Inspection Sheet to PDF
To Export your Inspection sheet to a PDF, select the Export to PDF icon. This will open the inspection in a new tab where you can download a copy to your computer.
Depending on your browser and browser settings, the PDF may automatically download vs. opening in a new tab.
Delete an Inspection Sheet
To permanently remove an Inspection sheet, select the Delete Inspection Sheet icon.
Inspection Sheet Statuses
Edit Statuses
Your Inspection Sheet’s statuses and associated settings will determine the names of the status, color, and presentation used on the customer’s inspection results.
To set up or change your statuses:

Select the Statuses arrow to expand the section

Select an icon or image to correlate with the status
-
Select a color to correlate with the status
-
Input a name for the status
-
Select the status meaning:
-
Good: Only one status can be “good”. This enables Technicians to work easily and efficiently.
-
Needs Future Attention: Multiple statuses can have this meaning
-
Requires Immediate Action: Multiple statuses can have this meaning
-
Hidden: Select this option to hide anything in this status from the customer’s inspection report
-

Reorder or delete a status using the editing tools on the right
-
Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Add a New Status
To add another Status:
-
Select the Add Status button
-
Select an icon, color, and name
-
Select a status meaning
-
Reorder or delete a status using the editing tools on the right

Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Configure Inspection Sections
The Inspection Sheet’s Sections are used to house Topics, Conditions, and Actions (see below). While on the Inspection Sheet:

Select an existing Section to expand and edit the Section name
-
Or select Add Section to add a new Section
-
Reorder or delete a status using the editing tools on the right
-
Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Configure Inspection Topics
A Topic will live within a Section on an Inspection Sheet. Each Topic will have its own set of Conditions and Actions.
Edit Topics
-
Select a Topic under the corresponding Section and expand the section to see more settings
-
Copy, Move, or Reorder the Topic using the editing tools on the right

Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Add a New Topic
-
Select the Add Topic button to add a new Topic
-
Copy, Move, or Reorder the Topic using the editing tools on the right
-
Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Delete a Topic
Select the Delete Topic icon to delete a Topic
Customize Topic Options
Mandatory topics on inspection sheets must be filled out completely before submission. This is customizable so that shops can choose which topics and photos must be completed.
Make All Topics Mandatory
In order to make ALL Topics on the Inspection Sheet mandatory for Technicians to complete:

Select and expand Inspection Sheet Options

Select the checkbox for The topics in this sheet are mandatory and have to be completed before submitting
-
Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Individual Topics Options
-
Select the checkbox to enable any of the following Topic options:
-
This topic is mandatory and has to be completed before submitting.
-
This topic prompts tech to edit the images. Arrows & caption open automatically.
-
This topic requires an image to be captured before submitting.
-
This topic sends an alert to the service advisor with each tapped recommended action.
-

Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Configure Inspection Conditions
A Condition is used to indicate the condition of the associated Topic.
Add or Edit Conditions
-
Select an existing Condition to expand and edit the Condition name and information
-
Or select Add Condition to add a new Condition
-
Select or edit the Default Status
-
Select or edit the Default Action.
-
Note: If setting up a new Inspection Sheet for the first time, you’ll need to create your Actions before you’re able to select a Default Action (more on that below).
-

Duplicate or Reorder the Condition using the editing tools on the right
-
Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Default Notes & Images
Each Condition can include the following optional settings:
-
Input a Default Image Caption to pre-populate the image caption on the photo taken by the Technician. This will appear when a customer selects the photo on their inspection report.

Input a Default Customer Note to pre-populate when the corresponding Condition is selected by the Technician.
Educational Video & Notes
Each Condition can include the following optional settings:
-
Input an Educational Note to pre-populate when the customer selects ‘Why is this important’ on their inspection report. This will often correspond with an Educational Video (below).

Select an Educational Video from the AutoVitals video library. This will be visible to the customer on their inspection report.

To use a Custom Video instead:
-
Educational Video: Select the Enter Custom Video Link from the drop down menu
-
Video Link: Paste a URL or Upload a video you would like to use
-
Video Thumbnail: Paste a URL or Upload an image you would like to use as the thumbnail image
-
Additional Condition Options
Each Condition can include the following optional settings:
-
Reference Image URL: Input a Reference Image URL to direct the Technician on what kind of image would be most helpful for that Condition.
-
Note: This image will not appear on the customer’s inspection report, as it is meant to help guide Technicians.

Guided Mode Skip: If your shop is using Guided Mode, you can use this setting to:

Skip Image Prompt

Skip Notes Prompt

Skip Add Arrow

Configure Inspection Actions
Actions can be associated with Inspection Topics to allow Technicians to complete Inspection Topics with one tap, significantly increasing their efficiency.
Add Canned Jobs as Actions
To add your Canned Jobs as Actions on the Inspection Sheet, follow the steps below:

Select Add Action(s) as Canned Job

Search by Job Code, Name, or Description
-
Select the Canned Job(s)
-
Note: Hold ‘Ctrl’ to select multiple Canned Jobs to add at the same time
-

Select Add Canned Job
-
Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
Add Actions as Text
To add Text as an Action on the Inspection Sheet, follow the steps below:

Select Add Action as Text

Input a Name
-
Select Submit Changes (at the bottom of the page) to save your work
