Diagnosing a Trouble Code
Enter the trouble code in a new chat. Mastertech returns:
- A summary of the issue.
- Likely and root causes, drawn from diagnostic history across the network.
- Your shop's own past repair orders where the same code appeared, where there are any.
- Manufacturer recommendations, with the supporting documents and diagrams.
When Mastertech Cannot Answer
- If Mastertech does not have manufacturer data for the vehicle, it will say so rather than estimate.
- Coverage is currently limited for Tesla and for heavy-duty vehicles, where technical service bulletin data is the most reliable information available. Toyota and Lexus maintenance schedules are also limited.
- If you think the data should be there, try rephrasing the question more specifically before escalating. Asking for a named component or a named specification tends to work better than a broad question. If it still does not come back, contact support with the VIN and what you were looking for.
Telling Us When An Answer is Wrong
Every answer has a thumbs up and thumbs down. Use them! A thumbs down opens a feedback ticket that reaches our support team, and it is the fastest way to get a data problem corrected for every shop, not just yours. You can use the same control to suggest a feature.
